Computers consist of many important parts that help them function for various advanced uses. These include programs, software, customization, functions, and many other things. Computers are a very complex, yet important subject in modern-day society. Today's standards have a very important use for computers and other technology.
The Five Basic Parts of a Computer are:
1.) Input Unit
2.) Output Unit
3.) Memory Unit
4.) Control Unit
5.) Arithmetical and Logical Unit
The Input Unit contains input devices such as keyboards, mice and anything that can put information into the computer.
Two examples of the Output Unit are headphones and speakers. The Output Unit is coming from the computer, while the Input Unit is coming from you.
The Memory Unit is exactly how it sounds. It’s the memory the computer contains. An example of memory on a computer is a Gigabyte, which has a lot of memory going up to 1,000 megabits per second!
The Control Unit is a little more complex. It can be confusing to some people that are unfamiliar with computers. The Control Unit is a component of a computer's Central Processing Unit. A Control Unit, or CU, directs operations within the computer.
The Arithmetical and Logical Unit is also known as the ALU. It is the part of a central processing unit that carries out arithmetical and logical operations on the operands in computer instruction words.
So as you see, the complexity of computers is astonishing. There is so much more to learn out there! When it comes to technology, the sky is the limit. We humans are continuing to advance on a daily basis.
